Move First. Plan Later.

June 14, 2026 · BocaRealFacts.org

At the City Council meeting on May 12, 2026, the City Manager announced that City staff will be permanently relocated to the Congress Avenue campus. Following the meeting, the mayor told one of the Boca Real Facts team that he was unaware the decision had been made.

Whether relocating government functions west of I-95 is the right choice is not the issue. Many residents, including members of the BocaRealFacts team, believe it is a concept worthy of serious consideration.

The concerns are:  The timing of that decision and who made the decision.

The City has promised a public planning process to help determine the future of Boca Raton's downtown civic area. Yet a permanent staff relocation appears to answer one of the most important planning questions before that process has even begun:

Where should Boca Raton's civic center be located in the future?

Public engagement is most meaningful when major questions remain open.

If the future location of City Hall and core government functions has already been decided, residents are left asking:

What exactly are we being asked to help plan?

Take Action

Tell the City Council: Keep the Planning Process Open

Ask them to pause any permanent relocation decisions until the public planning process is complete and residents have had a genuine opportunity to weigh in.
